Introduction
Some designs begin with colour or fabric.
Others begin with a story.
The Return Key bag was created around three symbols deeply rooted in Palestinian heritage: a key, an olive branch, and the word فلسطينية.
Each one carries a meaning.
Together, they tell a story of memory, land, and identity.
The Return Key: A Symbol of Memory
In many Palestinian families, old house keys have been preserved for generations.
When families were displaced from their homes in 1948, many locked their doors and carried their keys with them, believing they would return shortly.
Those keys became something more than objects.
They became symbols of memory, belonging, and the enduring connection to home.
Today, the return key remains one of the most powerful visual symbols associated with Palestinian history.

The Olive Branch: A Connection to the Land
Wrapped around the key in the design is an olive branch.
Olive trees are among the oldest living symbols of the Mediterranean and especially Palestine.
They represent:
- peace
- resilience
- deep roots in the land
Some olive trees in the region have lived for hundreds or even thousands of years.
For many families, olive harvests are not only agricultural traditions but also cultural rituals passed down through generations.
The olive branch surrounding the key symbolizes that connection between land, heritage, and endurance.
The Word "فلسطينية"
On the other side of the bag appears a single word:
فلسطينية
It means "Palestinian woman."
This word is simple, but powerful.
It represents identity carried with pride — across places, across generations, and across stories.
In the design, the word stands alone, allowing the meaning to speak for itself.

Design Inspired by Heritage
At Ghazal Bags, designs often begin with stories drawn from the region's culture, language, and history.
The Return Key bag brings together three elements that have shaped Palestinian identity for generations.
The result is not simply an accessory.
It is a design that carries meaning.
Handmade with Intention
Every Ghazal bag is handcrafted in Lebanon.
We believe in slow fashion — pieces created carefully, in limited quantities, and meant to last.
The Return Key bag reflects that philosophy.
Each bag is made individually, ensuring attention to detail and craftsmanship in every piece.

Carrying Stories
Objects can sometimes hold more than their physical form.
They can carry memory, identity, and culture.
The Return Key bag was designed as a tribute to those stories — and to the symbols that continue to represent them.
